Playlist of January

Hello blog type people,

First of all, I want to say a massive THANK YOU to all of you who have been reading this. I’ve become so much active on here, and it’s paying off. This blog has gone from having 4-7 views a day to 50 on average. Yesterday it was almost 100! That’s crazy! I hope you’ll all stick around while I babble on about things.

Secondly I just wanted to talk about the new blog layout! I revamped it quite a bit last night. As much as I loved the old layout, it didn’t look or feel completely right. This layout feels much more clean. I still have a fair bit of work to do on it, but I think it looks good enough for now!

Thirdly, I think my new blog goal is 5 posts a week. I may do these Monday to Friday, but I’m not sure yet. That won’t be starting just yet, as I have an exam Tuesday, so depending on how things are going, there may not be a post Monday and maybe there will be weekend posts. Who knows.

This whole paragraph just became a disclaimer for ‘I think I know what I’m doing, but I’m not 100%, but I want the feeling of accomplishment from committing to a goal’.

Today’s post is going to be a bit simpler. I want to talk about music a little bit.

Isn’t it strange how you can hear one or two songs and immediately they’re the songs that define a month in your life? This month for me has been defined by these two:

Elastic Heart – Sia

Brain – BANKS

I feel like I have to address this when talking about Elastic Heart, but I love the video. I think it’s amazing. As Jack Howard said, it really is a piece of art and you immediately feel pretentious as hell for describing it in that way.

I know that when I think back to January 2015, I’m going to think of a blur of exam stress and blogging, with BANKS and Sia playing in the background.

I’m playing these songs whenever I can, like right now! Or when I have 5 minutes between doing some revision questions, or as I get ready in the morning.

For ages I thought BANKS was what all the kids who are hip and cool were calling Azalea Banks. Turns out I couldn’t have been more wrong. I discovered this song through Meghan Tonjes who recently covered it, and now I can’t stop listening to it. It’s a few plays off of becoming a problem.

While we’re here, I’m gonna throw this out there. I’ve been using Spotify for a while, and I’ve made a playlist called ‘Davey’s Anthems’, full of some of my favourite songs. I do need to add All About That Bass though. If you’ve been following me on, well any social media, you will know how much I love that song.

I sorta wish Love Me Harder hadn’t been the first song I added to the playlist, and it had been something cool and unknown so my playlist looked mysterious.

Oh well, it’s still an absolute jam.

Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you tomorrow!

Indiana Jones

Hello everyone!

So that not blogging until my exams are over thing is REALLY working isn’t it? I dunno, I feel very creatively charged at the minute. I was originally going to type that my creative juices were flowing …then I gagged a little.

Today I wanted to talk about a film franchise that I am head over heels for, Indiana Jones!

Before you think it, yes it does annoy me that I don’t have a matching set of DVDs. Although this makes sense, as I’ll explain. So at the tender age of 12, I watched Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in the cinema, having only seen Raiders of the Lost Ark years before, and I absolutely loved it. Yes really, I loved Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I still like it, I think as an Indiana Jones film it isn’t great, but as a stand-alone action adventure, it’s decent enough.

Nintendo Direct Predictions

Tomorrow is the first Nintendo Direct of 2015. If you don’t know what that is,it’s an online presentation by Nintendo which reveals plans/games/release dates/whatever for the next couple of months, though sometimes there’s a long term announcement made in them.

I love these things, I try to watch them all live, if I can. They’re sometimes on at bizarre times,(i.e for those in the UK, this one is on at 2pm on a Wednesday?!) but more often than not I manage to make them.

It’s not just watching them, Twitter and Tumblr explode and a new meme seems to be created every. single. time.

Here are my predictions for tomorrow’s Direct:

Bag Essentials

I have well and truly been bitten by the blogging bug over the past few days, I just can’t stop thinking of ideas and wanting to make posts.

This is a post that, if you read a lot of blogs, you’ve probably seen regurgitated and repackaged over and over and over. And if you follow a lot of those ‘life tips/hacks’ Twitter accounts, like I do (because Pinterest is just a bit too much effort), you’ll have had your fill of bag tips.

When thinking about this post, I thought about everything that I put in my bag when I’m going on a long train journey. In general, not all of these things are on my bag, but it usually is a combination of most of the items.

Here’s my signature bag:

If we’re gonna be techinical, I guess I should call it a ‘faux leather satchel’ from River Island. Is that even correct?

The Walking Dead Season 5B Trailer

So yesterday the trailer for season 5 b of The Walking Dead dropped, watch it here:

We need to talk about this A LOT. First of all, AMC, why did you make the trailer US only and wait for others to make it available to us in the rest of the world? When we get the show less than 24 hours after the US, it seems bizarre that we can’t have the trailer.

And whilst this does just seem like a lot of promotional footage that we won’t see play out in the actual episode themselves, it’s still a great sneak peek of what’s to come, and it looks like there’s much more time on the road left for our survivors.

By the looks of Rick’s beard and Carol’s hair, there’s going to be a time skip between the mid-season finale and the return of the show.

And there are a few characters, Father Gabriel, Carl and Judith),missing from this trailer. Though when you think about it, the reason is obvious. Father Gabriel is pretty useless when killing walkers and using weapons, and so wouldn’t fit at all in this trailer (although Eugene is there!). Judith can’t do anything with, you know, being a baby and all, and someone needs to carry her around, and who better than her big brother. But does this mean Tyreese is off of babysitting duty? That seems to be his role in the group at the minute.

Also, I don’t think bullet shells dropping on a leaf covered forest floor make that noise. But I’ll let that slide.

Finally, it looks COLD. For once, is winter not being skipped over in a timeskip like it has been TWICE before, between seasons 2 and 3, and it seems like between season 3 and 4, it was winter. I’m assuming this as it was clearly autumn towards the end of season 3, and season 4 picks up in what I’m assuming is spring!

I cannot wait until February 9th when The Walking Dead returns to Fox in the UK, for you lucky devils in the US, you get it February 8th!

Let’s just hope AMC don’t spoil the entire world this time!
