Welcome to Interviewed, a series of chats and discussions with creators from all over the internet!
Today we’re joined by Boe Huntress, Boe is a musician and artist in residence at Union Chapel Church. Through her work in this role she has developed thought provoking innovative pieces around themes such as masculinity, war and female power.
D: Could you tell us a little bit about you as an artist as well as ‘Medusa: The Transformation’?
B: I’m a songwriter, singer and writer, who also directs and produces immersive shows. I’m particularly interested in the mythic, and how it underscores our archetypal experiences as humans, as such I’ve been retelling myths for the past few years, both as songs and stories. Myth has often been relegated in our culture but I feel it’s a missing piece to our understanding of meaning in life. ‘Medusa: The Transformation’ will be an audio-visual spectacular immersion with a compelling story at its centre.
It’s been a hot minute hasn’t it?
Welcome back to Interviewed, a series of chats and discussions with creators of all kinds.
This is one of the ‘lost’ interviews, one that for various reasons never actually got published. The main reason being I had a hectic few weeks, went travelling for a while and it slipped my mind.
However, today we are joined by my friend Aftab of Fresh and Fearless, a blog focusing on luxury travel and everything London too! I’ll get straight into it.
D: Who are you and what is it you do online?
A: Hello! I’m Aftab. I’m a 24-year-old, London based luxury travel and lifestyle content creator. I travel around the world in such for the best luxury destinations, 5-star hotels, restaurants and hidden gems.
Most Listened To is a little series I dip into every now and then to share some of the songs that I’m loving at the minute. I log into Obscurify and pick out the top 10 most listened to tracks of the last six weeks, though I do kind of cheat and set a rule so that there can only be one song per artist represented, otherwise we’d be seeing a lot more Christine and the Queens and Pale Waves thanks to their recently released albums, and Dua Lipa too, with her upcoming deluxe album.
Since my last ‘Most Listened To’ post I’ve spent some time travelling around the States and spent a whole lot of time at home resting up a leg injury, so this is what these 10 tracks represent!
Apologies for the uncentered Spotify embeds, WordPress doesn’t want to comply today.
1) Electricity – Silk City + Dua Lipa
I remember this coming out whilst I was in Portland, Oregon. Specifically, lying on the sofa bed in the living room and thinking that this song was mediocre. I was so wrong, it’s already jumped into my top tracks of all time.
Dua Lipa has one of those voices that fits in every track from soul to EDM, ‘Electricity’ feels like new territory for her, but with Mark Ronson and Diplo as her collaborators, it was only going to be a massive dance success. The track is incredibly catchy, and was co-written by Romy of the xx! The more you know.
It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Between being ill and spending a month travelling around the USA, it’s been a long time since I’ve sat down and typed something up.
A couple of months ago I travelled to Nerja, a coastal town in Southern Spain for my sister’s wedding. Nerja is known for its gorgeous seaside views from the Balcón De Europa, long beaches and gorgeous white architecture.
Did I get up to a great deal in Nerja? Kinda, I spent tons of time with family and friends, being there for a wedding was a much different ‘travel’ experience than any I’ve had before. It mainly involved a lot of nursing hangovers around a pool – that’s something I could get used to.
