Welcome to INTERVIEWED, a series of discussions and chats with creators of all kinds.
Today we’re joined by blogger of all kinds Edd Speaks.
D: What do you do online as a creator?
E: I love the term creator, much better than influencer! I run a blog, my own little space where I talk about lifestyle and fashion pieces that I’ve been loving and other things that come to mind! I created my blog as I have so many thoughts and I wanted to share my creativity with as many people as I can!
The fact that I now have over 130,000 views is crazy to me!
D: I prefer creator massively too, influencer is thrown around a lot.
Who’s the man behind the blog?
E: Sure! I’m 19 and I’ve lived in Wolverhampton, England all my life! I love travelling and have a eye for photography. I’m working on my blog 7 days a week but have a job on the side in retail.
D: How did you get your start blogging?
E: I started it purely as a hobbie and something to do in my spare time. I had read blogs for years and finally took the plunge in 2014 to make my very own!
D: What blogs were you reading?
E: I was a big fan of Em Sheldon‘s blog! I was obsessed with it and still am, but unfortunately I don’t have that much time to spend hours reading blogs anymore, which makes me so sad!
D: It can be hard to fit it in, I try to read on the train and at my lunch break if possible!
E: Yeah I try to keep up to date with my favourite bloggers as much as I can!
D: You’ve been blogging a while now, what have you learned along the way?
E: The main thing that I’ve learned and that springs to mind when you ask this is that I’ve learned to write what I like and not to say think of who’s reading. Don’t get caught up with what every other blogger is doing and write what you enjoy to write about because it’s your space and nobody else’s
Where do you find your inspiration come from for your posts?
E: That’s a tricky one! I’ve never been a creative person when it comes to art and drawing.. honestly I’m useless when it comes to that but when it comes to blog post ideas, they just come to me!
I love looking on Pinterest!
D: As long as you get the ideas somehow!
E: Exactly! They’ve seemed to come to me so easy for the most part.
D: Is there anything, in terms of creating, that you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t had the chance to?
E: Of course, there are so many amazing opportunities that come up for bloggers and other creators! I’ve made rough ideas of things I’d love to do but I’m open to new things and experiences all the time
D: What are some of your favourite bloggers currently?
D: Do you have any other multimedia favourites? TV/magazines/books?
E: Weirdly enough, I actually don’t really watch that much TV and neither do I read books aha! I was a massive ‘obsessee’ over Love Island. I think it’s a big love or hate thing but I loved it and I’m actually quite lost now it’s not on? (I think it sounds a bit sad too but, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t lost aha!) I use to be such a big TV watcher but now there just doesn’t seem to be anything on that interests me? Don’t get me wrong, I always pop it on around 11pm for my late night Family Guy viewing but that’s about it really.
D: I haven’t seen any of Love Island, I’m so out of the loop.
What’s your favourite thing about being a blogger?
E: I love the fact that I’ve made something and I love having something I can be proud of, I think that’s the main thing for me, the fact I’ve created it and every milestone I reach is hard work that has come from myself and all bloggers should feel proud of their online little spaces. I can definitely speak for myself when I say that I’ve worked so hard and I still do to this day, I work everyday making my content better for my audience and it’s so satisfying when I hear that people enjoy my content!
D: That’s always a great feeling!
E: Yeah it’s such a good feeling as well!
D: Any future plans for your blog/creative endeavours?
E: Not at the moment! There’s one thing I definitely want to do and that’s giveaways! I’d love to give something back to my readers. Maybe at my next milestone, who knows?! It’s good to give something back to people that bring me so much happiness. I just want to keep producing content for my audience and keep up with my schedule.
D: What’s your Hogwarts house?
E: I used to be obsessed with Harry Potter and I still am, despite the fact that I haven’t watched them all for years! I’d say Gryffindor! Just because.. I’ve always said I’d be a Gryffindor since being very young.
D: Have you got a favourite film of all time?
E: I’m not a fan of films apart from scary films, I never have been one for films to be honest! Saying that I love stuff like Mean Girls and Pitch Perfect.
D: I love those two, they’re modern comedy classics.
Finally, any music you’re loving currently.
E: I’ve been loving a lot of old songs lately! Torn by Natalie Imbruglia comes to mind straight away.
Keep up to date with all interviews here.
