INTERVIEWED: HALO OF THOUGHTS

Welcome to INTERVIEWED, a series of discussions and chats with creators of all kinds.

Today we're joined by my good friend + blogger of many talents Arran Brown of Halo of Thoughts!

D: What do you do online as a creator?

A: So I'm a blogger who's main focus is Male Grooming, fashion, food and gaming. I also dabble in between about ongoing situations when I face them.

D: What about the man behind the blog?

A: Alright, here comes a dating profile type response. I'm 29 originally from Tunbridge Wells but moved to Southampton for uni and stayed. I'm half-Bengali (Bangladesh) and half-English (with French and Spanish descent).

I'm quite, chilled and around very easy to get along with. I like exercise and nice long walks along the beach.

D: When did you begin blogging, and why?

A: I started blogging almost a year ago and to begin with it was going to be more game related, as I wanted a hobby where I could just write my thoughts down and go from there. My partner Alice has been blogging for 4 years and seeing what she's got to experience through it has been awesome.

D: You're expecting a child! How do you think this is going to affect your online life?

A: Honestly I expect to go AWOL from blogging to start as the little one will take up most of not all our time. Once we have that routine in though I'll find my stride I feel.

D: We're all very excited for Baby Spake to hit the world!

Do you have a standout post or moment in your online career? Your post on racism was particularly poignant and a very good read.

A: Thanks my man! Yeah, I'd say it was that post was probably my most important one. I feel with everything going on then with Brexit and Manchester tensions were high for that to happen. I feel people don't actually expect it, until it's brought to their attention.

D: You're proud of the term 'male blogger' whilst many are reluctant to use it, could you tell me a bit about that?

A: Ahhhh, see going in with the content questions I like. At the end of the day the term 'Male Blogger' to me is no different than a lifestyle blogger or beauty blogger, as our main focus group is aimed at men, their partners and products. It makes sense to me to use that target group as our label per say. Also yeah, there we are males that blog but there's also a lot of female bloggers who focus on that male style too, so having that label works for me.

D: Where do you find influences for your content?

A: For me it's a mixture things I see, try or experience. If it's something I've not been involved in I won't share a view as it's not an informed one. Otherwise it's other bloggers and content creators. I've actually got something slightly different coming up which I've not done before but is exciting!

D: Which content creators do you particularly look up to?

A: Other than Alice (Annie Writes Beauty) because lets be honest, if it wasn't for her I'd not be blogging and I'm obviously her #1 fan boy.

I think Carl at A Blokes Eye View has to be one, as he was one of the first bloggers to welcome me into the scene and we still talk to this day, often about a lot of shit.

Ryan Mules because his fashion game is ridiculously on point and he's so cool with it.

Ste at Stylefade just because of his shoe and trainer game and Charlie at Modish Male because the guys an absolute idiot but I love that. Finally Brogan Tate because she's as real in person as you see in her vlogs and seeing how well she's done over the last few years has been awesome.

D: Besides the baby, what does the future hold for you?

A: Man I don't know to be honest as so many dynamics change at that point. The blog will still be a thing but it's likely to change direction and focus on more specific area's. I'd love to go to an NFL game again as it's been a while since I went and I would love to go to an e-sport land event.

D: What's your Hogwarts House?

A: Hufflepuff, it's all about the black and yellow, black and yellow, black and yellow.

Note: Great reference.

D: Do you have a favourite film of all time?

A: Yes, the Mighty Duck trilogy have always and will always be my favourite.

D: What music are you loving currently?

A: Man I'm a rap head so there's been bangers for days this year. I'd say anything from Run The Jewels to start the year, A$AP Mob, Tyler The Creator's new album , as was Kendrick's and the surprise for me is BigBoi.

Big up Arran for joining us today + we all wish him and Alice the best with the arrival of Baby Spake! Keep up to date with him on his Twitter, Instagram and blog! Make sure to read his post on racism!

For all other interviews, hit up the masterpost.
