Inspirational Women

Yesterday was International Women's Day, and thus I decided to tweet out pictures of a few women who are extremely inspirational.

This was actually retweeted by one of the women featured, Rosie, better known as Roxeterawr. And it ended up causing my notifications to go mental for a long time.

Here are just a few of the women who inspire me everyday:

Emma Watson

I've always admired Emma Watson for crushing it as Hermione Granger, and also for doing better than me in her A Levels whilst FILMING HARRY POTTER!

Her philanthropic work, especially in the UN, and creating heforshe  and her fight for equal rights for women, are few of the reasons why I find her so incredibly inspiration.

Laverne Cox

Did you know trans black women have a 1/12 chance of being MURDERED? I found this out via Laverne Cox, who is campaigning for change. She is an incredible activist, who commands all respect. She kills it as Sofia Burset on Orange is the New Black.

Also, first trans woman to be featured on the cover of Time magazine! Get it Laverne!!

Rose + Rosie

An amazing LGBTQ+ YouTube couple. They're friendly, funny and all round great people. At Summer in the City 2014, I saw them on the LGBTQ+ panel, and I found their stories, advice and commentary highly thoughtful and inspiring. These are two incredible women.

Grace Helbig

She started filming herself whilst house sitting, now a massive YouTuber, come film star, with two different TV shows coming up. Not to mention she's fucking hilarious and kills it with the comedy game. You go Grace Helbig.

Amy Poehler

Comedian, actress, author and all round great person. Amy Poehler has done so much in her life, and reading about it in her book Yes Please, immediately made her become one of my favourite celebrities. Amy Poehler is fucking funny. Like REALLY fucking funny. Try watching any of her work without laughing, I doubt you can.

I seriously advise you to read Yes Please, it's a brilliant book and I feel like it's helping to improve my outlook on life.

Malala Yousoufzai

Malala is truly an incredible person. She has accomplished so much in her 17 years of life! She will truly go to amazing places and change the world as we know it. Her compassion for all women receiving an education is remarkable, and Malala truly should be someone who we all look up to.

Role models don't have to be older than you, I think she proved that by being the youngest ever recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.

This is, by no means, an exhaustive list.

For International Women's Day, even though it was yesterday, please take a moment to think about all the incredible women in your life! I'm thankful for my mother, sisters, and all of my female friends everyday. As well as all the incredible role models that I have.

Thanks for reading, see you next time!
